- Africa in the Global Nuclear Regime: a workshop organised by the ISS and the International Network of Emerging Nuclear Specialists (INENS)
Event Date: Monday 05 December - Friday 09 December 2011
The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and the International Network of Emerging Nuclear Specialists (INENS) is convening this workshop to encourage dialogue on Africa’s role with respect to nuclear weapon disarmament and non-proliferation. The workshop will promote regional and international interdisciplinary discussion on thematic issues pertinent to the region and in the broader international context by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas between emerging specialists and established experts. The workshop aims to enhance participants’ understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by the global nuclear weapon non-proliferation regime and to jointly identify how, from an African regional perspective, these challenges and opportunities can be addressed. The conference will bring together around 50 participants from African states and regional organisations and from outside the region.
